Some people are christened with a name that just suits and no nick name is ever required. But Australia is perhaps a land of nick names with no equal. The story of how Alf came to be is a long one and not for this space, but it certainly became an entrenched one. So much so that few people knew the real name, which wasn't a worry either; just a source of a little personality split perhaps? But after all, the dwarf trio were the band with no name.
lyrics
THE MAN WITH NO NAME
Nobody knows my name and I doubt if I'll ever tell
I'll keep on playing my game
Don't care even if they know me well
I like being a mystery in keeping with history
My mind is a well-sealed book
Anonymous person
They have to judge me by my look
Don't call me, I may not answer you
Or you won't hear me and what I say won't be true
Don't make me speak to reveal myself
Don't you force me, I'll tell you I'm someone else
Don't call me, don't force me, don't ask me
For my name
I'm the man with no name, I'm the man with no name
Call me what you will, to me it's all the same
I'm the man with no name, I'm the man with no name
Call me what you will, to me it's all the same
Don't ask me, for my name
Friends drop by and ask me, how are you going boy
I ask who they refer to
To answer with pain or joy
The eagle who's flying, or a lizard who's lying
Hiding there under his rock
They look so strange
I know I have to take stock
Don't call me, I may not answer you
Or you won't hear me, and what I say won't be true
Don't make me speak to reveal myself
Don't you force me, I'll tell you I'm someone else
Don't call me, don't force me, don't ask me
For my name
I'm the man with no name, I'm the man with no name
Call me what you will, to me it's all the same
I'm the man with no name, I'm the man with no name
Call me what you will, to me it's all the same
I'm the man with no name, I'm the man with no name
Call me what you will, to me it's all the same
I'm the man with no name, I'm the man with no name
Call me what you will, to me it's all the same
I'm the man with no name, I'm the man with no name
Call me what you will, to me it's all the same
I'm the man, the man, I'm the man with no name
I'm the man, the man, the man with no name
I'm the man...tell me friend, tell me what you think of that
Tell me what you think of that, I've got no name
I'm the man, I'm the man with no name
No name, no, no, no name brand, no name brand man that's my style
Oh yeah yeah, I'm the man, the man, the man with no name
