This is the only cover the dwarf/Kellaway combo ever attempted. Ken had a rule: only original music here. However, an exception was made for a much-loved song of all the band; it seemed to fit seamlessly into the album’s mix. It was originally heard by the singer on an obscure album from around 1974, ‘Byron Berline’s Sundance’. Rodney Crowell is a legend in country circles, whose songs have been recorded by a host of artists both widely acclaimed and similarly obscure. Rodney is still writing great songs and long may he continue
lyrics
‘Til I Gain Control Again
(Rodney Crowell)
Just like the sun over the mountain top
You know I'll always come again
You know I love to spend my morning time with you
Like a sun-dance lightly on your skin
I’ve never gone so wrong as a-tellin’ lies to you
What you see is what I’ve been
There ain’t nothing I can hide from you
You can see me better than I can
Out on the road that lies before me now
There are some turns where I may spin
I only hope that you will hold me now
'Til I can gain control again
Just like a lighthouse, you must stand alone
To mark the sailor’s journey’s end
No matter what seas, I've been sailing on
I'll always roll your way again
Out on the road that lies before me now
There are some turns where I may spin
I only hope that you will hold me now
'Til I can gain control again
Out on the road that lies before me now
There are some turns where I may spin
I only hope that you will hold me now
'Til I can gain control again
