about

Not a true story, but a fair reflection of the sentiments and situations met in South Asia. Inspired by real life contact in Lanka and Pakistan, but based on a newspaper story from the Middle East of a man who led his pursuers to a forest glade to face his execution, rather than risk his family being caught up in the barbaric act. His crime? Disagreeing - imagine that oh lucky westerners; I'd be dead 100 times over, except I wouldn't have been game enough to disagree, outside my cosy nest.

Thanks to John for a splendid vocal; tried but wasn't accurate enough to do it justice and so rests the only dwarf-kellaway song not sung by the songwriter; and a good little thing that is.

lyrics

SUFFICIENT CAUSE

I went walking in the forest shade
Stumbled on a victim of a police raid
A terror-drive began that day
This man he cried as in my path he lay

And he said hold me while I am dying
Hold me until I go
Hold me while I am dying
The cold wind begins to blow

A simple tailor, he was taught to fight
He saw the causes in a different light
There's foreigners invading our homes
Tell them that our hearts are still our own

And he said hold me while I am dying
Hold me until I go
Hold me while I am dying
The cold wind begins to blow

He was wandering, he was free at last
Reminiscing on the good times past
In the final ebbing of this brave man's life
He said he led them here to save his wife

And he said hold me while I am dying
Hold me until I go
Hold me while I am dying
The cold wind begins to blow

And he said hold me while I am dying
Hold me until I go
Hold me while I am dying
The cold wind begins to blow
